Fourteen years ago, my life changed forever.

My sister disappeared. That day I was selfish. That day I chose myself over her. And that day, I lost everything.

Including Nikki Walters.

She's the girl I’ve loved my whole life. She’s gorgeous. Caring. Every single thing I’ve ever wanted but denied myself. She was my sister’s best friend, and I destroyed any chance of keeping her.

When her safety is threatened, I have a second chance to do the right thing. But as soon as she moves in, I want her in all the wrong ways.

All it takes is a brush of her hand, and I’m losing all control.

The fire between us is only burning hotter.

But neither of us saw what was coming.

And it just might be Nikki Walters who destroys me in the end.

The highly anticipated sexy, suspenseful stand-alone second-chance romance from NYT Bestselling Author, A.L. Jackson.

My Review:

Lead Me Home is a story about second chances at love and at life. Having read the previous books in the series, I was expected when I found out that Oliver was getting his own story. Needless to say, the story did not disappoint at all, it was full of twists and turns that will leave you wanting for more.

At the beginning of the story we get to meet Nikki Walters, an online college student who is getting her bachelors in psychology. She is currently being mentored by a psychologist who is overseeing a mentoring group. This gives Nikki a purpose and she wants to make a difference in the world. Yet, when she gets too close to one of the girls that she mentors, it puts her a risk and her friend Oliver steps in right away. They’ve known each other since they were six, but the older they got the more she started to see him in a different light. But their lives changed fourteen years ago, when Oliver’s little sister disappeared and ever since then their relationship has been through ups and downs. They have a strong bond, but Nikki learned her lesson the minute she let Oliver in her bed and now she doesn’t want to get hurt again. It is after she gets a series of threats that he intervenes and demands her to move to his apartment in order to keep her safe. When they start to get close again obstacles come their way and she has to decide if pursuing a relationship with Ollie is worth it or not.

Oliver Preston has been through hell for so long. Ever since the disappearance of his sister, he has been detached from the world and this has caused him to lose his friendship with Nikki. The three of them had formed a strong bond that no one imagined it would break. Oliver has obsessively been following cases about kidnappings and murders in the area, anything that could come close to give him some answers and closure. Yet, years have passed and with no answers it has led to Oliver turning to Nikki. He promised them that he’ll protect them and he wants to protect Nikki no matter what. When he hears about the threats that she has been getting, Ollie is ready to hunt and attack anyone that comes close to her. But the minute they start to rekindle their friendship, the more he wants to have something more with her. He is ready to leave everything behind and move on, but neither one could have imagined what was about to happen next. Now as the two learn about what truly happened the night of her disappearance, he’ll have to decide if he is worth giving a shot at a relationship.

There is so much about this story that I absolutely loved, the author knows how to deliver a relatable story filled with emotions and hope. There are a lot of twists and turns in the story as we get to find out what happened the night of Sydney’s disappearance. It completely took me by surprise, I was not expecting the outcome at all. It’s evident from the very beginning that both Nikki and Oliver have such a strong chemistry and bond. He truly wants to protect her and be there for her. He is a true alpha male that knows what he wants and gets it (even though he doesn’t know if he deserves her or not). On the other hand, Nikki is such a courageous character. She truly wants to make a difference in the world no matter the cost. She knows that she shouldn’t get too attached to the people that she mentors, but she does so anyway and protects them. The story is told in duel POV which helps understand their decisions better and we also go back in time as well. I do wish we could have seen more of Ollie’s relationship with his mother and a couple of chapters in his sister’s POV, it would have made the story that much better. All in all, the ending will completely melt your heart and leave you wanting for more. I would highly recommend reading this and other books by the author, they will not disappoint. :)
