A sexy category novella from Entangled's Indulgence imprint.

Determined to make his latest preservation project on Route 66 a success, Connor Gibson will take any good press he can get. Even if it means spending a week with a reporter. And even if it’s one from a publication he has good reason to hate. Connor certainly isn’t expecting a spontaneous and undeniably attractive blonde who makes him seriously hot for the press...

Charlize Beckett is in deeeep trouble. This is her one chance to prove to her publisher dad that she's a serious journalist, even if she has to pretend she's someone else. Worse though, is trying to maintain any objectivity with the way too charming Connor. She can't help but get into all kinds of sexy trouble with him. But by going off the record, Charlie is putting both her reputation and her heart on the line...

My Review:

His Million Dollar Risk was such a fun romantic story with elements of road trip adventure that had me hooked from the start.

Not having read anything by Robin Bielman before, I was immediately attracted to the gorgeous cover of the book, and the synopsis. I've always wanted to go on a trip through Route 66, and reading about the places that the characters go to throughout their little adventure I was intrigued.

Connor Gibson runs preservation projects, his love for Route 66 has made his family recognized, but sometimes having a known name can hurt one's reputation. That was exactly what happened to Connor's mother after getting caught in a misunderstanding, a famous publishing company ruined her reputation. Hence, Connor's hatred towards journalists. He hates having to deal with the press, afraid of being caught in the same situation that broke his mother's feelings. Now he is working in his latest preservation project on Route 66, and he needs good press to get it to be a success. So, he invites a journalists from Natural World (also the one who published a story against his mother), a prominent magazine to visit a few stops throughout Route 66. If things go well, he will be able to bring national recognition to the Route, and make everyone in his family happy. But meeting his said “reporter” by chance, things quickly start to change between them, and he starts to question how professional he can be with her while they spend the week together.

Charlize Beckett always wanted her father's approval, and no matter what she does for the magazine, she still wants to please her dad. As she goes off on a trip with her friend Ashley (a reporter for the magazine), she has a few embarrassing moments in front of a handsome stranger. Unfortunately, her friend ends up getting sick, and she has to cover for her on a job that she is working on for the magazine. All she needs to do is meet with the representative that is working on Route 66, and interview him while they spend the next week together. Little did she know that the handsome stranger that she met at the hotel earlier is non other than Connor Gibson, the one that she has to interview. She immediately finds herself telling him that her name is Ashley/Charlie, and that she is in fact interviewing him for the magazine. What started with them being professional, later on she finds out about the hatred that he has for her father, and that leaves her wanting to keep her identity a secret even more, but as the two start to get more emotionally attached, she questions whether or she should tell him the truth before it's too late.

The characters in this book felt refreshing, as well as the story line. I love the road trip vibe that I got from reading it, and I couldn't stop from reaching for it every minute I got. Both characters have their own secrets in the book, that is no surprise, but as I read through the book, the chemistry between them grow in every scene. I love the scene when they are at some type of amusement park, and Charlie gets Connor to get her a stuffed animal from one of the booths (that scene was adorable!). Needless to say, I really enjoyed reading this book, everything was well-written, and well thought out. I highly recommend checking it out.
